Funny and Not so Funny!

Sorry no pictures with this blog, just some random things that have happened the last couple of days...

Mason was out of school yesterday and I need something to do to break up the constant fighting and yelling that now occurs all day! So I took the kids swimming for an hour. As I was getting ready to go I was trying on my two swimsuits that I hate, and trying to decide which one looked the least atrocious. Mason comes in the bathroom and states "Mom, I don't think you should go swimming with us!", "Why Mason?", "because your swimsuit is too tight and makes you look kinda fat!" "Thanks son, that was very rude, but thanks for your opinion, if you would like we can all stay home?!?" "I wasn't trying to be mean its just that the top is too tight", "OK Mason get out of the bathroom and shut your mouth!" Yes this is in fact the exact conversation I had with my son yesterday. Then I called Ryan to complain that Mason did have a point and that he needed to have a long talk with him about being polite! Oh the joys of honesty!

So this morning before school I was going through Mason's backpack and getting it ready for today. I came across a piece of paper that had two lines of words (a sound and o sound). Half way down the a column was DAM, which spelled this way is OK, however, I know my son and know that he doesn't realize a difference in DAM and DAMN. So I ask him to say the word allowed, but he conveniently forgot this word. After some questioning and talking he decided that if he put a "p" on the end then it would make the word damp and everything would be fine. I explained that this was not OK and I better not see this word on his paper again. To which he replied "OK Mom" and ran off to fight with his sister.

Gymnastics Fun Day

Today we went to Gymnastics. There is a local gym that hosts "Fun Days" once a month and for $5/hr. the kids can run around and play. My girls love it. We have been once before, but I forgot to take the camera last time. All their friends go so they have a blast running around and playing!

Jodie loves to run around and get into everything! Here is Ryley with a neighbor friend. She loves jumping into the pit.

Here are the girls in the block pit. Ryley jumps and jumps into the pit. Jodie is too little to jump but she loves to sit in it. Jodie needed new pants because she has finally outgrown her 9 month ones so I bought her new ones. When Ryley saw the pink ones with the hearts on them she had to have a pair too. Plus, I love dressing them up in matching clothes while I still can!
What kid doesn't love a huge trampoline? Ryley spends a lot of time on this one.

Crazy Hair, Swimsuits, and Funny Face

This is Mason's crazy hair. For those of you who don't know he has really thick, curly hair. He has started insisting on wearing it straight down, ugh!. However, it is his hair so we let him do with it what he wants. I love messing with it after his bath and today he let me make it curly and make him a Mohawk. Oh and that is my new shower curtain. I have wanted this shower curtain for months because I knew it would match the kids bathroom perfectly, but didn't want to spend the money. Last week I decided I was sick of walking by it every day at Target so I finally broke down and bought it. It matches perfectly and I love going in the kids bathroom now.

Mason wanted to show off his scar. This has been Ryley's outfit for the past two weeks. Every morning she puts her swimsuit on and only takes it off to eat or leave the house. I have had to fight with her to put clothes on to take Mason to school. She has really been asserting herself this week. We also registered her for preschool and she is really excited. Mason told her if she didn't cry on her first day then she was cooler than him, because he did cry. To which she replied, " I'm not going to cry, I'm not a baby!"

This is Jodie's "funny face", I am trying to get video up, but I have not been real successful.

Funny Stuff

Who are these crazy people?? For those of you who do not own a Wii I will explain. On the Wii you can create your Mii. Everyone at our house has a Mii and we have created a few extra family members so we could have a full baseball team. The kids love to mess with their Miis. Ryley has made herself blond, Mason has made himself really tall and skinny. However, I have to say that these are the funniest creations yet. Ryley is in the brown with the beard and mustache. Ryan is in the orange with the grey Afro (think Bob Ross) and Mason is the brown fellow with the red glasses and blond hair. So funny!I was so pleased this week to have one really warm day. It really helps my mind to be able to chase the kids around the yard. The girls and I went outside, but Jodie's new shoes kept falling off. She would take one step and then the stupid things would fall right off. So we had to go get her a smaller pair. They look so tiny, but they fit. So when we were at Target she was throwing a fit because she didn't want to try them on, but after I put them on and let her walk around she was fine. Then I tried to take them off to pay for them and she threw a fit again. She now loves her new shoes and if they are down she will carry them around, or ask to have them on. So funny. She also really likes to stomp on the kitchen floor. She will stomp around the kitchen and laugh at herself. This is Jodie's horse that she got for Christmas. She loves this horse, and bounces on it all the time. She has recently discovered that she could stand up and then she decided that wasn't scary enough so she now stands up on one leg. It terrifies me.When the weather started to get cold this fall Ryley hated hats and refused to wear one. So I took her to Target and found one that had the Disney Princesses on it thinking this would help entice her to wear it. We brought the hat home and I washed it (I wash everything before the kids wear it...I am neurotic!!). Unfortunately the princesses fell off in the washer. So she was not real thrilled to wear her new hat. Fast forward to last week... Ryley will not take her hat off. She puts in on when we take Mason to school and doesn't take it off until nap time. She says her ears are cold, but I think she doesn't like when her hair has static and the hat keeps it from flying everywhere.
Mason is all healed!! He has his follow up appointment and everything is great! He also had a wonderful week at school with no tears at all. Look how big his hands have gotten. We are thinking he is going through a growth spurt. He has been eating everything, for example, for breakfast he ate four eggs, a yogurt, and an apple. I am scared for the teenage years~

New Shoes, Sisters, and Wii Crazy

Update on us...These past two weeks have been crazy. Jodie is teething, and officially weaned! Ryley went to gymnastics and ran around the gym with her friends. Mason had a rough week back to school, but a better week this week. Here are a few pictures I have taken.

Ryley is Jodie's new best friend...she feeds her Goldfish crackers! Ryley loved running around the gym, jumping into the block pit, and jumping on the big trampoline. We may put her in gymnastics next year, but for now we will just take her on the "fun days".
Jodie found my measuring tape and it kept her entertained for quite awhile.
New shoes. On the one great day last week I took the girls outside to play and Jodie loved being down and running through the yard. So I decided it was time for a pair of shoes (only to wear if she will be walking outside). She is not real fond of them, but I really want her to wear them if she is going to be walking outside, so I keep trying to "practice" with her.
This is what she does, sits down and takes them off. I can't blame her I am not that fond of shoes either.
Ah the Wii...We thought this would be a great game for the family and we were right. For those of you who do not have a Wii they are tons of fun, but terribly addicting. We have set time limits for the kids, but it seems that someone is always playing at our house.

Happy Anniversary!!

Nine years ago today Ryan and I were married. There aren't too many people who have the joy of being married to their best friend, I feel truly blessed to be one of them. Ryan and I met in January of 1996 and we have been together ever since. We don't have the "perfect" relationship (if there is such a thing). We argue like cats and dogs, but at the end of the day we know we are working towards the same goals. So I just wanted to take a moment to say "Thanks for always being there, for not yelling too much when I decide to paint the laundry room at 3:00pm on the Sunday before you have to go back to work, for making me laugh, for being a great Dad, a wonderful provider, and marvelous husband. Thank you for putting up with all my little and not so little quirks and thanks for our wonderful life. I feel so blessed each and every day. I can't imagine my life without you and I look forward to spending the rest of my life with you!!"

I love you with all my heart!!

Walking and More

Updates on us: Jodie has 7 teeth, she is 16 lbs 7 oz, 27 in. tall, and has started walking everywhere now. She tries very hard to keep up with Mason and Ryley but still isn't quite quick enough. So if they leave her behind she will yell at them or cry until someone comes back for her. She is very funny!

She has also found her belly and loves to walk around rubbing it.Ryley had her hair cut recently and it looks very cute. She has been enjoying the Wii, coloring, and watching Tinkerbell.

Mason is back to school and doing great. His bandage fell off and he can see his incision site. He says he feels great and is ready to be back to normal. He is also enjoying playing the Wii, reading his new books, and playing with his new toys.

Ryan is back to work after a long vacation at home. He like the kids loves playing the Wii too. We recently painted our laundry room and our basement is in the process of being finished. Ryan wanted me to post pictures of the laundry room, so here they are. I took a shirt and hat from when the kids were really small and the smallest socks I could find and hung them on a make shift clothes line.
