Trick or Treat

I am so glad that Halloween is here. I dread halloween every year because the past two years Ryley has been terrified of all the "scary stuff". Going to town is always a challenge but with all the decorations out it is a huge hassle. Every store we go to I have to pull her out of the van and explain that if I see anything scary I will tell her to close her eyes and we will go the other way. Luckily we have missed most of the isles with the halloween stuff. However, we have had a few moments of terror. I took her and Jodie into Sams and they had moved their outdoor decorations to the front of the store which I didn't see until it was too late. Ryley jumped out of the stroller, screamed, and started crying. It was horrible. So needless to say I am glad to see this holiday come and go so we can get on with less scary holidays (it is much easier to keep away from scary Santa at the mall!)

We have had halloween all week. Monday we went to Bass Pro, where the kids colored a pumpkin and got a little candy. Wednesday we carved pumpkins at home. Mason wanted to carve his own pumpkin so we let him carve his little one from Bass Pro. The kids loved scooping out the goop this year and had a great time throwing it at each other. Needless to say, they were covered in pumpkin goo. The pumpkins turned out great...Thank Ryan for doing such a great job carving them.

Friday we went to Hy-Vee and then around the neighborhood trick or treating. This was tons of fun. We love going to Hy-Vee because they get juice, cookies, granola bars, balloons, and apples. We have such a wonderful neighborhood so we always end up trick or treating as a group. The kids love to run from house to house getting candy and just being kids.
Here is Jango Fett (Bounty Hunter in Star Wars), baby pumpkin, and the beautiful Snow White.
MMM, fingers...they look nasty, but they tasted good (breadsticks filled with meat and cheese) and more importantly the kids ate before going out to get candy.

Happy Halloween!

Pumpkin seeds grow into....
very cute pumpkins!!

I got a pickle, I got a pickle, I got a pickle, hey hey hey hey

This past weekend Jodie found the joy of pickles. She took one lick and was hooked. Like everyone in my family she loves dill pickles. My Grandma made the best pickles and my Mom has picked up where she left off. We have been known to eat store bought pickles if there isn't any homemade, but they just aren't quite as good. I tried to take her pickle away after she had sucked most of the juice out, but she wouldn't let go. For those of you who have never seen the Little Rascals the title of this post is a reference to a song sang on the movie.

Here is Jodie being pulled around the house in a little wagon. All the kids have loved taking a ride in this toy. Here is a picture Mason took, I think she is showing us her pirate impression. She now has two teeth on the bottom, but I can't get a good picture of them yet.
Thanks Jessica for letting us borrow the pea pod costume, she looked really cute in it even though she hated it. Luckily we found a pumpkin costume and she liked it better because she could still crawl and stand up.

Last Football Game

Last night was Mason's last football game for the season. He told Ryan before the game that he wanted to score one more touchdown, so the last play of the game Mason scored his last touchdown of the season. It was a great way to end the season.

One of the boys mom's made a banner for the boys to run through before the game started.
Isn't it cute?!?
Here is what happens when little boys try to run through a banner...they fall. The boys weren't quite big enough to break through the banner, but it was very cute to see them try!
Here is Ryan giving Mason his medal.

Hayride at Church

Last Sunday, our church had a hayride/weiner roast. We took the kids and had a great time. The kids loved the hayride and the little "train". They did not like roasting their hot dogs, but they enjoyed eating them. They also did not enjoy smores either, they just wanted the chocolate.
This is the "train"... a riding lawn mower with little wagons hooked to the back. The kids loved it!!
Here is Ryley and Jodie waiting for a hot dog.
Mason looks so tall in this picture!
Yum Yum
Sitting on the hayride.
Even Jodie liked the hayride (or maybe she just likes having her picture taken!)

The Many Hats of Jodie

Jodie turned 9 months old this week, and I am in shock (where did the time go?!?)! She had her checkup and everything looks great. The Dr. said she is perfect, and petite. I didn't realize how tiny she is, but she is in the 4th percentile in weight (15 lbs) and 7th in height, so it looks like she is going to be little. With fall here Jodie needed a hat for our morning walks, so today I made her model all of her options. We are very lucky to have Papa and Granny Pittman to buy all these cute hats for her, saved me a ton of money. Isn't she adorable?!?!?!?!?!?
