Football

Football is life here at the Silverwood house (must be genetic HA HA). Mason has wanted to play football since he was able to walk, and swears he will play for the Vikings one day (hopefully he will remember his Mom and Dad!). Ryan found out that they have little kids football here so he is coaching Mason's team. They are the Chiefs, they play 5 on 5, and they play once a week. Ryan really loves coaching the kids, Mason loves playing (especially the running), and we girls love watching them. The only thing that Ryan hates is there is a soccer goal on our football field and you all know his feelings on soccer.

Here are the pictures of practice. Mason is playing quaterback and giving a handoff. He likes playing quaterback but I think he prefers to run with the ball.
Mason playing center.
Here is Mason getting ready to run. Running is his favorite part of football (besides making touchdowns and pulling flags.)

This is our first game which was last Tuesday. Mason scored his first touchdown. I was so proud, but of course I didn't have the camera ready to take the picture ugh!
I think he is running to get someone's flag here.
Taking a water break.
The kids really like Coach Ryan and Coach Rob. Plus they are all really excited about playing football.

Here are the cheerleaders. I bring a blanket to sit on, but the girls rarely stay on it.

Ryley enjoys going to the games, peeing in the port-a-potty, and eating snacks (not in that order). I don't really know what is so interesting about the port-a-potty, but she loves using them. Last week she said she had to go potty right when we pulled up. SoI told her I would wait at the door and she could go by herself, she went in, locked the door, and started screaming. Of course Ryan is worried that something is terribly wrong (like she fell in), so he gets her calmed down and tells her to unlock the door. She finally does, and comes out crying and dancing around. So we ask her what the problem is and she says there is a big spider. Turns out there is a grand daddy long leg by the toilet paper. I asked if she went potty and she says "no", so I tell her I will go with her so she can go, and she says she doesn't have to potty. So I ask why she went into the port-a-potty in the first place and she says "I just wanted to look around". What?!? That's Ryley!

Jodie's serious look. She took her hat off and she knew that I was coming after her to put it back on.

Ryley and Jodie going to the end zone. Ryley decided not to run off and leave her behind this time.

Yum Yum Yum

Last Sunday we went to the Mary's Home Picnic. Mom, John, Jessica, Hannah, and Aunt Mary met us there. We ate a huge meal, watched the turtle races, tried to win some prizes, rode the train, and the kids spent their money on some must haves! It was so much fun, the food was wonderful, and we can't wait to go again next year.
Here are the kids waiting to eat
This is the turtle races. Each kid pays a quarter and gets a paddle with a number on it. If the turtle gets through their number first they win a dollar. Jessica and Ryley both won.

Ryley with her treasures. She had to have a pink gun, fuzzy tiarra and she won a little spiderman doll. It was Ryley's lucky day (she won at the turtle races and another game).

Here is Mason with his treasures...a gun and handcuffs. He kept himself handcuffed all the way home. Too bad he knows how to get himself out of them. Ha Ha

Football, Fish, and Family

We went to the lake for friday night football and a fish fry. Here are the highlights of the trip.

Mason loves his friday night football. Here he is on the side lines waiting for the game to start.
Mason's favorite high school team and his favorite coach!!
Ryley loves fish!
Getting the taters ready to cook.
Obi Wan and Annikan fight it out before lunch. Thanks Uncle Tommy for being a big kid! Mason loves it.

No idea what Mason is doing here, but the picture was funny!

Jodie getting into trouble!

We love going to the lake to see our families, and look forward to coming back down very soon!

First Day of Kindergarten

The first day of Kindergarten... Sunday night it hit me that my baby was going to have to leave me and go to school on Thursday. I cried and cried worrying about all those things that could happen (what if he got nervous, or wet his pants, or didn't eat his lunch, or didn't play at recess). So when Thursday came I was quite worried that I wouldn't be able to keep it together to get him off to school. Ryan took the entire day off so that he could come for the drop off and the pick up. Thursday morning it was raining and raining so Ryan stayed in the van with the girls and Mason and I went into the school. I was prepared for him to have tears, or be really upset, however, he was fine. A little nervous but overall he did great. He gave me one big hug when his teacher came and then he was off. I didn't cry at all because he was so excited to be going to school. Isn't it amazing that our children can keep us calm, by just being excited! Ryan was upset having to leave him, because he has never really had to leave him at school before. We went to get him after school and he said he had a great day. He loved it and was excited about going back. We all went to get ice cream and the day turned out great.
Here he is showing his big muscles before we left.

This is when we first walked into his school. I felt really bad because his feet were wet from having to walk in the rain.
Here he his waiting for his teacher and taking in all that was going on around him.
This is him in his line getting ready to leave for his classroom. He was so excited!
Here is Mason when we came to get him. He is wearing his green camo jacket, and his teacher is the one on the left in the polka dot dress.
I asked him to stop so I could take his picture, but he really wanted to go and get ice cream.

So the first day went great and the second day he almost broke my heart. I walked him to the playground and he tried to run off without giving me a hug, luckily he came back and gave me a quick hug, and kissed his sisters. He then ran off to the playground to find his friends and he didn't look back. UGH! I am so happy that he is adjusting to school so great, but I find myself having a hard time letting go. Ah the joys of being a parent! The only time you can see your heart walking around outside your body.

The Next Generation

For those of you who have read the Twilight Saga you will appreciate this and for those of you who haven't read these books you are really missing out. Thanks Jess for telling me (several times) to read them. Ryley wanted to be like me and this is what I have been doing for the last several weeks. I am not sure what she needed the flashlight for, but the pictures are cute.
She must be to an exciting part of the book (the Voluturi maybe!?!)

VBS: Power Lab

This week we had Vacation Bible School at our church. I forgot to bring the camera every night except the last one. Luckily, I was able to get a few cute pictures of the kids singing. They both sang and performed with their class and they did a great job. The theme was Power Lab:"God gives us the power to...be helpful, be brave, tell others about him, be thankful, and to pray. It was so neat and the kids had a great time.

This was the "power song". Mason loves showing off his muscles!

How sweet is this?!?

This is the game room. Ryley is really sleepy!

Random Pictures

Sorry for not posting pictures in a while. Here are a few I have taken in the last few weeks.

The big kids wanted mohawks like Andrew and Austin, so I did my best.

Jodie has learned to pull up to everything so she always stands in her crib and shakes the bars.

Bath time. We don't normally bathe them together but they wanted to take a bath with Jodie so we let them.
